About: In 1999, Peter Pomerantz built a mahogany canoe and discovered his passion for the art of woodworking. The canoe was ultimately a symbol of the form and function he would later bring to his kitchens and furniture at Pomertanz Woodworking. Peter worked alongside a Vermont kitchen cabinetmaker and master craftsman for several years building custom kitchens, while developing, exploring, creating and refining his own unique style in fine custom furniture.

After completing several commissioned projects, Peter founded Pomerantz Woodworking and built his own studio, nestled in the hills of Fayston, Vermont overlooking the Mad River Valley. The growing Pomerantz Woodworking team also includes his wife Sara, who assists with design and project management, part-time cabinetmaker/installer Tim Fuller, who has more than 25 years of local building experience, and our shop dog Butler, who handles public relations.

Peter's background in wilderness education has taken him throughout remote natural areas and communities throughout New England, the Southwest, parts of Central America and East Africa. Along with his rural upbringing, these experiences have reinforced his respect and stewardship of the environment. At Pomerantz Woodworking, raw lumber is hand selected from local area saw mills that practice sustainable forestry. Shop methods reduce waste and rely on energy on energy efficient lighting and heating. We also offer clients a variety of green finishes and natural oils, which are non-toxic and are of exceptional quality.
