About: I'm a Catskill Mountain woodsman with ancestry in the region dating back to the 1600s. I began carving at age 16. When I work on any piece, I like to imagine its grown out of the earth. The word “organic” is almost abused today because we have lost our way and are so desperate to reconnect to that earth.
With over 30 years experience in his medium, Hoppy is one of the original Upstate New York woodcarvers. He is a member of the United Chainsaw Carvers Guild. His fine carving skills and connection with the natural world are illustrated in his trademark bears and woodland creatures. An accomplished woodworker, Hoppy Quick also designs and builds whimsical rustic furniture, gazebos, arbors, fencing, animal barns and tree houses using native eastern red cedar, white pine, hemlock, black walnut, and cherry. A collector of discarded logs too large for conventional milling, Hoppy Quick's creations bring old wood new life.
